Parents Committee

The Parents Committee is an important part of the life of the school. They take on the role of organising events in the broader life of the school. Some of these have a fund-raising aspect but many are designed simply as social events, allowing parents and children to get together to have fun.

Recently, the committee has organised family walks, barbecues, treasure-hunts, ghost walks and balls. Some of these events are for children with parents and some are for one or other group (Parents would be no more welcome at the pupils' Christmas disco than the children would be at the annual Winter Ball!). The commiitee members also run the nearly-new uniform shop, based in the Red House.

One of the main events of the Parents Committee's calendar is the school's Summer Garden Fete, when the school grounds are transformed into a sea of stalls, amusements and entertainments. It is also the one opportunity in the year to see the Headmaster burning the sausages as he "helps" with the barbecue.

The membership of the committee is meant to reflect each area of the school and there are members from most year groups. To be a member of the committee, all that you you need is a sense of committment and a capacity for a huge amount of work.

The committee is currently led by Mrs. Becky Hopwood-Robinson, who has two children in the school. For news of latest events being organised by te committee, go to the events pages.
